Marjorie Lightford is a Master Stylist and certified colorist who is known for her versatile skill set, creative vision, and amazing ability for transformation. The consummate professional, Marjorie studies her craft to keep abreast of new techniques, but her ability to listen and execute the client’s vision is what sets her apart.
Marjorie’s passion for hair started at a young age. Captivated by her grandmother’s quilting books, she gravitated to the colors, intricate designs, and weaving patterns of quilts. After learning how to sew, Marjorie began experimenting with the same techniques for her doll’s hair. She found herself producing beautiful braid patterns and hairstyles, solidifying her natural creative vision. Marjorie’s fascination with hair followed her to college at Vanderbilt University where she was the resident stylist for many classmates and sorority sisters. While there, she discovered an old proverb– “Find something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” After graduation, Marjorie made this proverb actionable career advice and became a hairstylist. According to Marjorie, since her first day as a Shampoo Technician in April 2012, she never “worked” a day after.

Marjorie’s unyielding drive and curiosity has always motivated her to continue educating herself on the best techniques, colors, cuts, styles and treatments for all hair types. She has completed advanced courses from Vidal Sasson, Redken, Pureology, Paul Mitchell, Softsheen Carson, Deva Curl, and received her certification in hair color through Redken. Marjorie draws inspiration from geometry, light and vision, and lifestyle allowing her to look at an individual and design a cut and color uniquely curated for each client.

Currently, Marjorie works as a freelance and celebrity hairstylist in Los Angeles. When she’s not working in entertainment, she is transforming everyday client’s in private cut and color sessions from her personal studio. Her motto is “Look Good. Feel Good. Do Well.” While she strives to inspire and uplift people behind the chair, she believes she has a responsibility as a hairstylist to transform the internal beauty of her clients into a beautiful outward display. Her upbeat and open-minded personality, coupled with her dedication to her clients and her craft, sets her apart from most and continues to make her a well sought-after stylist.
